7 Things That Will Help Ease Your Transition Into Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Fall brings with it the promise of pumpkin spice lattes and holiday fun with the fam. But if you’re anything like me, you’re not quite ready to let go of the warm summer days and your collection of crop tops. Yet the season is changing and so should your attitude! Here are 7 things that are sure to make this transition a little bit easier.

1. A Cute Mug

Sure, Starbucks may be the place to go to get your PSL fix, but on those days where it’s just too cold to venture out of your dorm, a cute mug is an absolute must for making your own hot beverages at home. Whether you prefer a funny saying or one shaped like your favorite animal, your perfect mug is out there. Check out your local Target for adorable but affordable options!

2. A Pair of Comfy Boots

Function meets fashion. A pair of comfy boots will keep your feet warm without sacrificing your style. They look good with everything, from leggings to dresses! Try layering them with trendy socks or leg warmers for added warmth and interest.

3. Leggings

A collegiette staple, and for good reason! Leggings are comfortable and affordable, and you can dress them up or down for any occasion. They come in endless colors, patterns, and styles so your legs will be warm until May.

4. The Farmer’s Market

In some towns, the farmer’s market is seasonal and starting to wind down. While in others, it moves indoors for the winter months. Here in Menomonie, October 22nd is your last day to visit the market in Wilson Park. Before temperatures drop too low, head to your local farmer’s market to snag some fresh fall fruits and veggies. Apples, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and cauliflower are just a few of the items in season!

5. End of Summer Sales

Some of your favorite stores are selling their summer items for a HUGE discount! Stock up for spring break with sales at stores like Anthropologie, H&M, Topshop, J Crew, and Old Navy; both online and in-store. Don’t forget to check your inbox for any promo codes or coupons that may have been sent to you for some extra savings.

6. Fall Colors

Not only are the leaves changing colors, your lips can too. Fall is the time for rich reds and berry shades. Embrace your dark side and rock that deep plum you’ve been eyeing at Sephora all summer. Paired with a messy bun and a cosy sweater, a dark lip adds a bit of fall flair to your look.

7. Thanksgiving Break

If all else fails, knowing that at the end of November you’ll be heading home for a long weekend of home cooked meals and football should help you get through those cold walks to class. Even if you’re not a big Thanksgiving fan, those precious days off of school will seem like heaven when you don’t have to get up for your 8 a.m. classes.

Whether you’re a fan of fall or start wearing your winter coat at 65 degrees, you have to agree that fall brings with it some pretty incredible things. Make the most of this fall and embrace every opportunity that this new season offers!
