What is Her Campus at Gettysburg?

What is Her Campus at Gettysburg?  

Her Campus at Gettysburg College is an online source for Gettysburg’s women that provides content as both a resource and source of entertainment.  Our pieces highlight news and events on campus, community members of interest, photos of campus, and fashion and lifestyle pieces specifically chosen for the women of Gettysburg College.  

So, it’s a “chick thing?”

No! Though the materials we produce are targeted primarily at college-aged females, the team is open to all sexual identifications.

How does it work?

Since we are an online magazine, our main goal is producing content.   We also run a variety of events on campus, as well as our Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Snapchat (gburg_hc) accounts.  

We have three primary teams—writing, PR, and social media—who take care of making sure all of this gets done!  It’s a lot of work, but even more fun.  

Her Campus at Gettysburg is currently ranked a Pink level chapter, putting us in the top 25% of chapters worldwide!

What’s so great about it?  

Most of us love being a part of HC Gettysburg because of the sort of family we’ve created—it’s almost like a non-Greek version of a sorority in the sort of sister (or brother!)-hood you gain by being a part of the team.  

One of our favorite parts, from a different point of view, is our bi-semesterly “Survival Kit” delivery from Her Campus National.  Filled with goodies from sponsors ranging from Vera Bradley to Five Hour Energy, these survival kits give us a sort of reward for all of our hard work, in addition to the opportunity to review and work with some amazing brands.  

Possibly the best part, though, is the connections you can establish through HC.  Staff members at college chapters have gone on to work for Vogue, Buzzfeed, O Magazine, and more, thanks in part to their work with Her Campus!  Even if this isn’t your career plan, it’s a major gold star for your resume.

Juliette Sebock, Founder: Jules founded the Gettysburg College chapter of Her Campus in Fall 2015 and served as Campus Correspondent until graduating in Spring 2018.

Juliette graduated from Gettysburg College in 2018 with an English major and History/Civil War Era Studies/Public History triple minors. In addition to HC, she was a member of the Spring 2017 class of Advanced Studies in England and of various organizations including Eta Sigma Phi, Dance Ensemble, and Poetry Circle.

She has published a poetry chapbook titled Mistakes Were Made, available on Amazon and Goodreads, and she has poems forthcoming in several literary magazines.
