10 Tips To Avoid Senioritis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

Symptoms include: low energy, no motivation, and constantly feeling horrified. If you Google these symptoms, the Internet will surly diagnose you with senioritis. I graduate in December and I have a terrible case of senioritis. Here are a few ways to help you avoid this horrible disease.

10. Prioritize

I know it seems like everything is due on the same day. But take a step back, its not. Figure out what’s due next and work on that. Then work on whatever is due next and so on.

9. Don’t freak out

If you feel overwhelmed the worse thing to do is freak out and panic. Stay calm and have confidence in yourself. Know you can and will get it done.

8. Talk to someone

No I don’t mean a therapist. Some times the best therapist is your mom or your best friend. Tell someone how you feel. You never know what advice they might have.

7. Exercise

Even if it’s only for 30 minutes, exercise is a great way to de-stress.

6. Take breaks

Although, you feel like you don’t have time to take a break, you do. So take one. Take a nap, read a book or get dinner with a friend.

5. Get lots of sleep

I do not recommend all-nighters. You will just be super tired the next day. So go to sleep and take a nap during the day if you need to.

4. Keep your eyes on the prize

Never forget about what you’re fighting for. Maybe it’s for the degree or for your dream job. Always remember that you are doing all this work for a purpose.

3. Don’t give up!

You can’t give up now! You are so close you can almost taste it. Its too late to give up so don’t even think about it.

2. Be involved

Make sure to be involved in different activities. That way you’re always busy and don’t have time to think about quitting.

1. Have fun!

Don’t forget to have fun from time to time. With all of the hard work we’ve put in we deserve a little fun. Work hard, play harder!

Even though it feels like you’ve been in school for a million years and it seems like the end is nowhere in site, you have to push through. It will be well worth it when you have that dream job, when you are making bank, or even when you can tell yourself “threw all the blood, sweat, and tears I did it!” Come on seniors of 2016, let’s finish this!

Hey I'm Samantha. Senior at University of Kentucky Graduating in December 2016 From Northern Kentucky Aspiring writer and public relations specialist
My name is Sydney E. Baker, but mostly people call me Slim. As a junior at the University of Kentucky, I am pursuing a B.A in Integrated Strategic Communication (a mouthful I know but I wouldn't have it any other way). During my studies, I am focused on building my professional self - which basically means staying so busy that I hardly get a wink of sleep. I previously served as the Campus Correspondent for the UK chapter of Her Campus and before that I was only a writer. To know more about me visit http://www.linkedin.com/in/sydneyebaker.
