English majors have to go through a lot on a day to day basis. As researchers and book obsessed writers, we have to read massive amounts of information, analyze it, and put it all together in a well written format so it’s easy for readers to follow and understand. We also have to interpret correctly dense literary works and provide thorough written analyses on tests within a limited time frame. Here are fifteen things we English majors go through. Enjoy, have a laugh.

1. Trying not to kill your peer reviewers for not understanding what you wrote.

2. Trying to review someone else’s work without being a total dick.

3. When someone interrupts you and you forget what you were writing.

4. Raging about how to interpret a poem.

5. Reading summaries of assigned readings the night before the test.

6. When your current written assignment prompts you to write something else.

7. Collecting free books on the stands even if you don’t read them.

8. Not being able to read your own books.

10. When the perfect writing song ends and you lose your vibe.

11. Getting hit by writing ideas at inopportune moments.

12. When you forget to bring the book to class, and the professor asks you to read.

13. Reading your sentences a million times and doubting what you wrote.

14. Spending hours staring at your pc screen thinking how to rephrase your essay’s ending.

15. Not wanting to part with a text-book because you’re too attached to books in general.
