Exec Team Profile: Campus Correspondent Emily Webster

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Name: Emily Webster

Age: 21

Program: Communications and Cultural Studies

Hometown: London, ON

Relationship Status: Me, my wine, and I

Horoscope: Sagittarius

Cats or dogs: Puppies & kittens, AKA baby animals of all kinds.

Pet peeve: People chewing with their mouth open and trying to speak (I don’t need to see that).

Favourite music artist: Don’t do this to me, for the love of God! Depends on what kind of mood I’m in.

Hobbies: Wine drinking, binge watching Netflix series, giving concerts in the shower, playing with puppies, horse back riding, board games, and spending time with friends and family!

One place you’d love to travel to: Greece; my nerdy heart wants nothing more than to see archaeological ruins.

How long have you been involved with Her Campus? What is your current position?

I have been with Her Campus since my third year at Laurier. Originally, I was on the marketing and promotions team and by some miracle I became the Editor-in-Chief and Campus Correspondent in my fourth year, which is the position I am continuing with this term! I am also a Chapter Advisor for the Her Campus national network.

What is your favourite thing about Laurier?

There are so many things to love about Laurier! It’s my home and has helped me grow so much as a person. I would say my absolute favourite thing about Laurier is the community and school spirit every Golden Hawk has. You will never meet another group of people with so much passion for their school and dreams!

What is your dream job?

My dream job is really one I have only realized in the past few years (since joining Her Campus tbh), which is to write for a magazine and maybe even be Editor-in-Chief of my own magazine one day! I’m really passionate about social media and pop culture journalism and the changing industry of print magazines. I love watching how various traditional magazines and newspapers create an online social presence and the kind of content produced for each social platform. Really, I just want a reason to justify my extensive knowledge of pop culture and stalking my favourite celebs online all day.

Who would you rather go on a date with: Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Gosling? Why?

Ryan Reynolds 100%, have you seen the man’s Twitter account?! If you haven’t, do yourself a favour and go follow; it’s lit.

It’s a Friday night; where would we find you?

I would love to say you find me living it up at Phil’s, but most likely you will find me at home bundled up in comfy clothes having a night in hanging out with my friends and binge watching movies or playing board games.

We all have our nerdy/dorky quirks, so what would yours be?

I have a lot of quirky habits, but I’m like hardcore into superheroes and comic books, specifically the Marvel Universe. I have more comic book paraphernalia than a teenage boy.

Who is your biggest role model?

It’s really cheesy, but my mum! She’s my best friend, mentor, teatime pal, number one fan, and so much more. She’s the strongest and most confident person I know; even when times get tough, she battles on and always remains positive, which I endlessly admire her for! She is always encouraging me to follow my dreams no matter how big they are, and even when I get nervous it may not be the right path she’s always there to support me no matter what.  She’s strong, independent, empowers those around her, and inspires me everyday. She has my back. She’s the best person I know and I love her to the moon and back, and across the universe. What is really embarrassing about all this is that she’s probably reading this right now! So, hi mum!

What is your go-to coffee order?

Honestly, I’m much more a tea kind of gal, but if I’m doing coffee the way to my heart is through an iced vanilla latte (shout out to Rachel for introducing me to the nectar of the Gods)!

What are three words your friends would use to describe you and why?

In all honesty, I consulted friends for an answer: loyal, caring, passionate, and really organized (technically that’s four, my bad)!

What can we expect from Her Campus Laurier this upcoming year?

I don’t want to give too much away, but we just finished hiring an amazing group of talented, passionate women to join our team and their ideas are what are going to make this year great! Events, great content, and more should be expected.

Thanks for being such an important part of the Her Campus Laurier team. We can’t wait to see what you have in store this year!

Wilfrid Laurier

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
