Emma Slater and Sasha Farber stole the show – and the hearts of the audience – Tuesday night when their Dancing with the Stars performance ended in a surprise proposal.
After the couple’s performance to Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are,” Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron turned the show over to Farber. “First of all, you guys have great chemistry. And Sasha, I’ve always thought you had the potential to actually host so I’m going to give the show over to you.” Farber turned to Slater and said, “Baby, I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time. I love you so, so much. Will you marry me?”
Of course, Slater said yes!
The room was filled with cheers from the audience as confetti surrounded the couple on stage and the other dancers came out to celebrate with them. Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” played in the background of the celebration.
According to Us Magazine, Slater and Farber were friends for two years before they started dating. They have been in a relationship for five years and recently bought a house in L.A.
After the show, Slater told Us “He danced the whole dance with this (ring) in his pocket, and turns out lots of people in production knew and I didn’t know at all and they must have kept it a really good secret.”
“I was a little bit nervous when we were doing the dance, thinking that (the ring) would fall out of my pocket, thinking, this could go horribly wrong,” Farber told Us.
Despite Farber’s nervousness, the performance continued smoothly and the surprise took everyone, that didn’t know about it previously, off guard. The only thing that didn’t surprise Slater was the ring itself. “She actually went shopping and she picked it out herself,” Slater told Us. “I spoke to her sister and her sister told me where it was from – and I went there and bought it straight away.”
This surprise is one that will forever be remembered on Dancing with the Stars.
