To The Boy That Cheated On His Girlfriend

Juliette Sebock Student Contributor, Gettysburg College
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Notice I refer to you as a “boy.”  If you couldn’t tell, this was incredibly purposeful.  Traditionally, the attributes of manhood include a focus on honor- and that, my friend, you lack.

How does it feel to know that you’re the reason she cries herself to sleep each night?  How does it feel to know that that “replacement” you found has some smug sense of achievement for “saving” you? How can you be with someone that was so hellbent on screwing you that she’d ruin someone else’s happiness so completely?

All of those “I love you”s…. how could you treat someone you “love” like that?  How could you treat ANYONE like that? People aren’t toys that you replace the moment you get tired of them.  You can’t throw your girlfriend in the Salvation Army pile.

How can you hold up your head knowing you’re an inherently terrible person? How can you keep from taking any responsibility for your actions?  How can you maintain that the two of you were in the right?

People have feelings, normally.  There’s no reason to blame the world if you lack them.  Empathy?  Trustworthiness? Loyalty? Obviously foreign concepts to you.  Don’t accuse others of being in the wrong for actually having a range of emotions.

Newsflash:  you can’t try to woo some random girl while keeping the one you have around for convenience.  You can’t have a “relationship” on only your terms.  Because she will get tired of dealing with it.  And quite frankly, she’s better off without you.
