Yarida grew up in Concord, California and moved to Rohnert Park in 2014 to attend SSU. She was raised in a primarily Spanish speaking household with Mexican traditions and is very family oriented. She has played the violin and piano for most of her life and is also a part of Sonoma State’s orchestra.

 

 

HC: What year are you and what is your major?

YR: It’s my third year and it’s Environmental studies.

HC: What do you plan on doing with your degree?

YR: Hopefully make the world a better place.

HC: What clubs are you involved in here at SSU?

YR: Women’s soccer club, and students for sustainability. I am also part of the school’s orchestra.

HC: What has been your favorite part of college so far?

YR: Finding myself. I didn’t really know who I was until I started college.

HC: Is there anything you regret?

YR: Oh my gosh, yes. Definitely not taking care of myself physically and mentally freshman year.

HC: Has freshman year been the hardest year so far?

YR: Sophomore year.

HC: Why’s that?

YR: I feel like I didn’t prioritize well, at all.

HC: What’s something that you want to accomplish before you graduate?

YR: I want to be involved in a leadership position.

HC: What are you going to miss the least about college?

YR: Immature people.

HC: What are you going to miss the most about college?

YR: Learning, being able to learn. The fact that my biggest responsibility right now is just school.

Edith Ayala is currently a third year at Sonoma State University. She was raised by a Salvadoran family in the heart of Los Angeles from 1996-2014. In 2014, she moved to Rohnert Park to attend school.
She is a Computer Science major and plans on working for Google at some point of her life. Edith likes to write about situations that she has been in, in a way her readers can relate to.
