7 Must Try Cures for Dreaded Hangovers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Hangovers happen; getting a headache and experiencing dry throat are just a few things many may experience. Accomplishing things the next day may seem impossible with a hangover. Fortunately, there are some Hangover Cures to get you up and moving!

  1. Sleep. You must try to get in as many hours of sleep as you can before starting your day. If you do not sleep well, your hangover will be 10X worse, you can feel grogy and on-edge. Sleeping can help lessen these so called side effects of having a hangover.
  2. Eat Light. Many people think eating greasy food is the right move but they are sadly wrong. It is suggested you eat light Meals; toast, cereal, and eggs are good options. However, a side of bacon won’t make the side effects worse; so feel free to indulge a little.
  3. Hydrate. After a night of drinking everything besides water, hydration is a must! In addition to water, electrolyte-filled drinks can help you feel better. So make sure your fridge is stocked with Gatorade for the morning after a rough night out.
  4. Hangover Pills. Yes, someone thought of the genius idea of creating a hangover pill. Everyday Health put these to the test. While the doctors interviewed don’t swear by them, many personal users found relief. Brands like Party Smart, Mercy, Blowfish, and PreFunc are suggested options that can be purchased. You can also stick to Advil if you don’t have the energy to run to the store.
  5. Juice. A juice blend containing a lot of antioxidant’s and aids in subsiding inflammation can work wonders. Here is a simple recipe to blend up: 1 cup kale, ½ lemon, one piece of ginger, ¼ cucumber, ¼ cup pineapple, and 3oz water.
  6. Sprite. This was a surprising new find in the hangover cure hunt. According to a study done by Chinese researchers, Sprite speeds up our ability to metabolize Aldehyde Dehydrogenase, which is said to cause those dreaded hangover symptoms.
  7. Replenish your skin. When our bodies are dehydrated, our skin is as well. It is essential to restore moisture to it. Bustle suggests Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Cleansing Foam; the oxygen will help with any puffiness. Follow up with a moisturizer of your choice, throw on some sunglasses and take on your day!
