Upon seeing a Diva Cup I was intrigued. I had heard of alternative methods of keeping clean while on your period, but I had never actually seen any of them, and I had never heard of a Diva Cup before.

I decided to give one a try on my last period, and the result was not quite what I expected. I found that the Diva Cup was simply too large for me to insert correctly, so it would not work properly for me and was incredibly uncomfortable. Granted, I am 5’2”, a bit shorter than the average person.

Although this product did not work out for me, I would encourage everyone to try and find ways of being more environmentally friendly during your period. A mention of cardboard-applicator tampons is enough to make every woman in a room groan, but there are other ways, such as a Diva Cup, which are much more friendly towards the environment than your typical tampons and pads. For those who the Diva Cup is simply too large for, there are other brands such as a Lunette Feminine Cup that come in smaller sizes.
