Her Campus: What are you involved in here at SMC? Phoebe Low: I am the Events Director for HC SMCVT and recently joined Acabellas, the all girl a capella group on campus.

HC: That’s awesome! What was it like to get involved in something new in your second year?
PL: It was definitely pretty intimidating at first, but now I can’t imagine being without my fellow Bellas. It has been well worth stepping out my comfort zone because I’ve gotten to meet so many new people that I wouldn’t have otherwise!
HC: What is your favorite thing about SMC?
PL: The psychology program. It offers so many interesting and engaging classes and has the ability to help you become more passionate about a field you’re already interested in because of the variety of courses. The different topics and levels expose you to different elements of psychology which open your mind to aspects of the field you didn’t even know were out there.
HC: What would you say the hardest part of college life is, and how did you get through it?
PL: I think it’s balancing your social life and academic commitments, learning to prioritize each at the appropriate times. Sometimes in order to keep yourself sane you must remember that no matter how heavy your academic schedule is you have to give yourself a break. But it’s not only about fitting in your social life, but also prioritizing time for yourself. You need time to be by yourself in order to decompress.
HC: SMC is great, but the area around it has so much to offer! What is your favorite thing to do off campus?
PL: I like to get a cup of coffee at Starbucks with my best friend–we usually go once a week! I also have a job in Williston working as a pre-school gymnastics coach, which I love! I want to work with kids after graduation, so it’s a fun way to get more experience handling little kids and it’s also a huge stress reliever. They’re so adorable, they make my week!

HC: You yourself are definitely a Campus Cutie, but who is your Alliot crush?
PL: The dynamic duo of Brian Shearer and Niall Keane. They come as a package deal and I’m really just a huge fan. (See Phoebe and Brian pictured below, Alliot crush dreams do come true)
HC: Favorite thing to get at Einstein’s?
PL: Hands down, chicken fingers.
