How to be Fall AF at Temple

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Most girls’ favorite season is fall because it is a chance for them to be even more basic than usual. It’s the chance to eat everything pumpkin spice flavored that emerge as soon as the leaves change colors. While there may not be hayrides and haunted houses on campus, there are still plenty of other things to do to get fully into the autumn spirit. We broke it down for you by food, festivities, and obviously, the perfect fall spots to take an Insta-worthy pic.

Pumpkin spice and everything nice

We all know how popular pumpkin spice lattes are and how they are everyone’s staple during the fall. While there are plenty of places on campus to pick up your PSL, like Saxby’s and Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks is definitely the most popular place to go.

Starbucks also offers many delicious pumpkin treats, like pumpkin bread, pumpkin cream cheese muffins and pumpkin shaped sugar cookies that are too die for! So basically your bloodstream will be 98% pumpkin and that’s 100% okay.

If you aren’t a coffee lover, Starbucks also offers hot chocolate in just about any flavor you could imagine. My favorite is salted caramel because it tastes like fall without being overloaded with pumpkin.

If you are looking for other places to pick up your PSL to avoid the huge line at Starbucks, here are some other places on campus that will give you your fix:

Saxby’s – Located on Liacouras Walk

Dunkin’ Donuts – Located on Cecil B. Moore Ave just behind TUF

7-Eleven – Broad St., Liacouras Walk, Cecil B. Moore

Saige Cafe – Berks St. behind Anderson Hall

Food trucks – All around campus

Outdoor Fall Festivities

While there aren’t any pumpkin patches or apple orchards on campus, there are some in the area that are definitely worth checking out:

Active Acres Farm:

They offer hayrides, corn mazes, and pony rides. They offer pumpkins for just $5 no matter the size.

Linvilla Orchards:

This is one of the most popular orchards in the Philly area. They offer pumpkinland in the fall, where you can enjoy hayrides, pumpkin picking, etc. If you go, you have to check out the apple cider donuts, they are to die for.

Shady Brook Farm:

They offer a pumpkin patch during the day and gets haunted by night. You can enjoy hayrides and apple cider donuts all day.

Highland Orchards:

You will get to enjoy a shuttle to a pumpkin patch and apple orchards. They offer hayrides and food all day long.

Insta-worthy places for all your basic girl needs

Everyone loves fall photos; each weekend, our social media feeds are filled with pictures of people jumping in the leaves, the leaves changing colors and cute couples picking apples. While we do live in the city, there are still hidden gems around campus that are definitely worth taking a few scenic pictures! Grab your olive jacket, tartan scarf and riding boots to snap the perfect picture!

Lincoln Financial Field:

Because what sums up college in the fall more than tailgating and game day photos at The Linc with your girls? Everybody loves seeing cherry and white on their Insta feed.

Founders’ Garden:

This place is surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers and will get you some great pics! I recommend you taking the pictures early because since it is surrounded by trees, you lose sunlight very fast! Founders Garden is located between Liacouras Walk and 13th Street, right next to STHM.

Polett Walk:

New fall flowers were just added to make Polett even more beautiful than it usually is. Snap your fall pics with the cute flowers and Sullivan Hall in the background.

Beury Beach:

All the leaves have been racked up, but there are big piles of leaves which could be used to make the perfect picture! Just pick up the leaves and throw them, striking the perfect candid with the beautiful Bell Tower in the background!

Being on campus during the fall limits how you can celebrate the fall season, but there are still plenty of things you can do at or around Temple to get into the autumn spirit. You just need to find Temple’s hidden gems!
