Man Who Kept Woman Chained in Storage Container May Have Murdered Seven People

Remember the missing woman who was found alive in a storage container last week? It turns out the man who kidnapped her has confessed to killing four people in 2003, and may have killed up to seven people.

The New York Daily News reports that Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said at a press conference that Todd Kohlhepp confessed to the quadruple homicide, which took place at the Superbike Motorsports Shop in South Carolina over a decade ago. The owner of the shop, his mother and two employees were murdered, and the crime was never solved.

“He told us some stuff that no one else should know,” Wright said at the press conference.

This confession comes after Kohlhepp’s arrest for the kidnapping of Kala V. Brown, who was found alive on Thursday in a metal storage container on his property. Brown had been missing for two months, and is reported to have been “chained like a dog” during her capture. The body of her boyfriend, Charles D. Carver, was found Saturday on Kohlhepp’s property, The New York Times reports. Two other bodies may be on the property, leading to the conclusion that Kohlhepp may have killed seven people.

Kohlhepp, who is also a registered sex offender, has been charged with the kidnapping of Brown and faces an additional round of murder charges for the Superbike murders. It’s not clear what the motive for these murders was, or if Kohlhepp knew any of the victims.

Now that Kohlhepp has confessed to these crimes, hopefully justice can now be served in honor of Brown and the families of the other victims.
