It’s exam week once again… tiring, I know! In college, it seems like exams just never end! It can be extremely distracting to study in your room. Studying in the library can be very productive but it can soon become stale. The library also becomes easily overpopulated, especially during exam weeks. Check out this list of a few hidden study spots around campus!

1. Passion Puddle, Cook Campus

Enjoy beautiful nature as you submerge yourself in your beautiful textbook. Passion Puddle offers a serene, relaxing environment for you to study. Studying at Passion Puddle allows you to appreciate the beauty of Cook campus as well as be productive. Needless to say, Passion Puddle is beautiful year round. So let the beautiful, colorful leaves reflecting off the ripples in the water serve as your muse to ace those exams!

2. Sage Library, College Ave Campus

The Gardner A. Sage Library is one of the best study spots at Rutgers. The classical architecture of the building is not only impressive and rich with history but also creates an elegant study environment. The “secret” library was originally built to serve as “a suitable environment for the contemplation of God”. Although there are many religious texts for you to browse during your study break, the “secret” library is definitely one of the quietest places to study.

3. Dining Hall

One of the best places to study, believe it or not, is the dining hall! You have an unlimited supply of caffeine and food as you bury yourselves in those books. The dining hall can get a bit loud, but a great study tip for easing distracting noises is to listen to white noise while you study. However, the dining hall offers you a place to study, eat, and relax. Who knows maybe during your study break you might even run into a friend?

4. Mathematical Science Library, Busch Campus

This is another small library not well known to students. The library compensates for its lack of size by being a comfortable cozy study environment. One of the perks of this cozy study spot in the Hill Center is the lack of overpopulation and noise. This two-floor library offers complete silence as you tackle all your difficult lecture materials.

5. Livingston Student Center, Livingston Campus

The Livingston Student Center offers many lounges for students to collaborate as they prepare for exams. There is a room towards the back entrance with large windows and a piano. It offers you great natural lighting and a destressor (if you can play piano, or just stay long enough and a soothing pianist is guaranteed to stop by). This a very casual study environment where you can just sit back, prop your feet up on the couch, read, or write on your laptop.

Overall, Rutgers is a HUGE campus. There are many places to study, don’t limit yourself to just the library. The library tends to be overpopulated and can even be distracting. Try checking out some other spots, I can guarantee that you will definitely end up finding a favorite study spot. It might even just be the study lounge in your dorm. Good luck and happ
