5 Unique Airbnbs from Around the World

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Airbnb has become a leader in both helping people find unique, international accommodation and experience adventures throughout the world, but there are definitely some hosts who have taken that to the next level. Here are 5 Airbnb homestays that are truly one-of-a-kind.

1.    Pirates of the Caribbean – Topanga Canyon, California, USA – £79 a night

Why stay in a normal hostel when you can stay in a Pirates of the Caribbean themed cabin? Located in the heart of the Topanga canyon, this property boasts a tropical-themed environment complete with waterfalls, ponds, stone stairways and a fire pit. In a prime location, near to many other cities in California; 20 minutes to Malibu, 25 to West Los Angeles and 35 to Hollywood… it’s fairly easy to get around and do some sightseeing.

2. Giraffe Safari View – Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape, South Africa – £69 a night

If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, the Giraffe View Safari is definitely a place you’ll want to have on your visit list. The giraffe view safari is a classic safari tent built of out stone which includes an elevated pool area where you can watch local game wandering about. During the week they also offer guided games walks, or drives, to help you get out and about and see the surrounding area and animals.

3. Tower House – Fragkokastello, Crete, Greece – £53 a night

This one-of-a-kind tower castle homestay is located in Fragkokastello, a small village in the south of Crete. It’s a small and secluded village located only a one minute walk from Orthi Ammos beach and is the perfect place to get away. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation this one’s for you. The tower house is a self-catered stay, giving you the freedom to cook as you like, and the hosts offer access to free bikes if you are feeling adventurous and want to cycle into town.

4. Airplane – St Michel Chef Chef, France – £78 a night

For most people, when they think of sleeping on an airplane, it’s with the intention of trying to help fight the inevitable jet lag or to simply pass the time. With this airline you’ll be able to skip all of that and just have a peaceful vacation. The airplane contains everything you need for a short vacation, and in the warm months (May to September) guests have access to the onsite pool and waterslide. Or, you can wander down to one of the three beaches located only minutes away.

5. Yurt in the Rainforest – Bulli, NSW, Australia – £79 a night

Situated on a hill in the Australian rainforest, just an hour away from Sydney, is the yurt in the rainforest. Nestled in the treetops, the yurt provides a wonderful panoramic view of the rainforest and its wildlife. Guest are able to handle parrots and the resident possum while also viewing many other animals that are roaming about. There are also many attractions around the area including parks, beaches, waterfalls, farmer markets, theatres and much more.
