1. The Power of Love, Frankie Goes to Hollywood
A beautiful song about the nature of unconditional love. Although Christmas is never actually mentioned in the song it, for me, encapsulates the true spirit of Christmas.

2. Fairytale of New York – The Pouges and Kirsty Maccoll
A slightly more down to earth Christmas song that explores the nature of love and lost dreams at Christmas on the streets of New York. Despite the sad tone of this Christmas song, it’s beautiful backing track and vocals make it an unforgettable classic. Also, I have yet to hear this song played without every single person in the room stopping what they are doing to join in and help sing it. Fairytale of New York helps bring people together…and isn’t that really what Christmas is all about?

8. Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Specifically the version by Idina Menzel & Michael Bublé

Because what better excuse is there to ignore all of life’s problems and snuggle up with a partner, than a cold, Christmassy evening.
9. Last Christmas – Wham

The perfect song for loving Christmas, and rubbing in your EX’s face how completely and totally over them you are (and if not, there’s always more egg-nog).
10. Merry Christmas Everybody – Slade

For me this song does nothing more or less than encapsulate the fun and joy that the Christmas season brings!
