We Tried It: HC Holiday Survival Kit

I have never won anything in my life, so I was very excited when I won the giveaway from the Her Campus La Verne’s chapter. The bag came with many great products, such as: Rimmel London Cosmetics makeup, Yogi tea, a Leaders Cosmetics face mask, and Pure Silk shaving cream. My friend Liz and I both won, and we decided to review some of the products together.

Rimmel London “Scandaleyes” Mascara in Extreme Black: This HUGE mascara tube definitely does its work.

Mulan – The thick mascara wand definitely adds volume to all lashes, making it longer and fuller. I recommend only using one or two coats because it works so well. If you put a lot on your lashes, it definitely will weigh them down and make them feel crusty.

Liz – I like it because it gives my eyelashes volume, which I need. The wand is really thick so it’s hard to get the small lashes, but it doesn’t clump my eyelashes together.

Liz –  When I put it on, the wand felt really soft but the lipstick felt chunky. You have to put on several layers because the color wouldn’t stay. It feels a bit heavy though because of all the extra coats, but it’s very pigmented and the color is bold. But the final The gloss (second coating) felt weird on my lips and it would slide off too; I had to wait a while for the lip color to dry before putting it on. The lipstick lasted a while though (like 10 hours), and it didn’t leave marks on my coffee cup and it didn’t taste like anything.

Mulan – I love the berry color because it’s perfect for the season. It takes about three coats for the color to fully show, and it’s a little bit sticky unless you put on the second coating. The second clear coat softens the harsh bold lipstick color, and it makes the lipstick last longer. It helps your lip color stay on after eating and it prevents the color from transferring. It also doesn’t leave a taste on your lips, and it feels like you don’t even have lipstick on.

Mulan – It was a challenge to put on our face because it’s so slimy, and it burns at first but it feels like a cold burn. It was very hard to remain emotionless because we took so many funny pictures. After taking off the mask, my skin felt cool and slimy, but as the serum dried it made my skin feel very soft.

Liz – It made my skin feel very soft and dewy and hydrated right after using it. My face felt clean and refreshed.

Yogi Sweet Tangerine Positive Energy tea: This tea gives you that jumpstart you need in the morning!

Mulan – I love citrus flavors, so I tried this tea first. It’s a very refreshing and energizing way to start the morning, and I felt very positive about my day.
