Dress Yourself: A Behrend Winter is Coming

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Behrend chapter.

It’s that time of year again… time to break out and dust off your winter wardrobe. Whether you love winter or hate it, you’ll still have to dress the part. Making outfits for the freezing cold may seem expensive, especially on a college budget, but it is possible if you stick to the three Cs; Cozy, Cute, and Cheap! 1. Cozy It is so incredibly important to be comfortable and warm when Berhend freezes over. Whether you’re walking to class or going out and about, you’re going to feel that freezing air. I recommend layering and making the bottom layer as comfy as possible. Fuzzy socks, warm oversized scarves, and beanies are luckily all super stylish, affordable, and warm! A coat for every temperature is extremely important in Erie considering it can be freezing one day and 50 degrees the next. Having one lighter coat and one large thick one is a good idea as well. Comfort and warmth comes first during the winter months because no one wants to be cold or sick. 2. Cute Winter comes with snow, ice, and a whole new wardrobe. Time to pull out the big sweaters, cute boots, and adorable accessories. Staying warm and dressing cute is easier than you think! Sticking with basic, warm clothes, and accessorizing with adorable boots, gloves, and a hat can add the special pop to an outfit everyone needs in their closet. 3. Cheap The best way to achieve the best cold-weather look on a budget is to shop discount stores. I’m talking TJMaxx, Marshals, Burlington, or Ross. All of these stores offer designer brands without the designer price. These stores also carry a large variety of coats (possibly the most important part of the outfit). There is also a great selection of boots that will keep you looking cute and on your feet! Another great way to achieve a great winter look is coupons, retailmenot and other discount apps can be a huge help. It is important to layer so getting the most hidden layers for cheap is a great way to save a few bucks (they are hidden after all.)  Keeping the three Cs in mind can help improve your winter wardrobe without breaking the bank. Stay warm and looking cute out there collegiettes!
