Tired of your typical study spots? Is the silence of the Tisch reading room starting to cause you even more stress than usual? Losing all your motivation to study? Finals are just around the corner, so we’ve come up with a list of some of our favorite study spots outside of Tufts.

If you’re on a time crunch, but need to get away for a little while go to…

Davis Square:

Diesel Cafe: At first, you may not think this cafe is worth breaking your loyalty to the Starbucks right across the street, but we promise it’s worth it. Diesel has tons of table options so feel free to study here alone or go in a group. Oh, and they have any kind of coffee you could ever need.

Starbucks: You can never go wrong with Starbucks, especially during pumpkin spice latte season (is it even pumpkin spice latte season anymore?) #greenteaszn #chaiteaszn #finalsszn #endlesscaffeineszn

Au Bon Pain: Whether you’re looking for a warm chocolate croissant or a hearty salad, Au Bon Pain is the perfect place to spend all day or even just an hour, especially with its convenient location on the edge of Davis Square.

If you have the energy to venture two T stops away…

Cambridge:

Barsimo 295: Trying to be trendy while still cranking out that final essay? Barismo not only serves great coffee, but has a killer atmosphere and features rotating artists. If you like a little music and some background noise to keep you sane, this is definitely the place for you.

Cambridge Public Library: Not a cafe person? The Cambridge Public Library has the calm, quiet study space you need plus the much needed change of scenery after endless hours in Tisch and Fletcher.

Yeah these are a little far, but make a day out of it!

Boston:

Boston Public Library: If part of you dies inside every time you walk into Tisch Library, why not try BPL? Whether you like cafe tables or need a Hogwarts style environment, BPL has got it all.

Mugar Memorial Library at Boston University: With seven stories, BU’s Mugar Library can offer you the social environment you’re looking for or the super silent one where people glare at you for opening your backpack. Plus, don’t miss out on the adorable puppies coming to help relieve stress on December 13th and 15th!

The Thinking Cup: Voted the best coffee shop of 2011 AND named as having “Best Coffee in the World” by NPR, the Thinking Cup is the perfect place to refuel, relax, and escape the chaos of Boston.

Wherever you decide to go, we hope your finals experience is as painless as finals can be.

Sammie is a freshman at Tufts this year as a member of the class of 2020. She is undecided in her major but thinking about child development or sociology. She is super excited to begin her participation with the Special Friends organization, the Tufts Mountain Club, and of course, HerCampus. Outside of school, she loves to run, hang out with friends, and try as many different restaurants as possible.
