That Time I Went Viral

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

Hey Upper East Siders,

Gossip Girl here to fill you in on that time I made a meme about Lonely Boy’s new look and it went viral.

It started out as a normal day. A simple exchange of gossip girl related texts between my roommate Kiera and I.

Then it came to me.

Fans of gossip girl know that the Humphrey family is low key obsessed with waffles, so I knew if I tied that in, people would catch on. I tweeted the meme on twitter first and it was retweeted by @HerCampus almost instantly. From there notifications poured in for the rest of the night.

Because of all of the positive feedback on twitter, I decided to post it on instagram the next day. I tagged @gossipgirlfeed because if anyone was going to find this meme funny, it would be them. Then this happened (of course while I’m at work without my phone):

My meme was reposted by @gossipgirlfeed! They didn’t give Her Campus LMU credit so I am slightly salty about that. It currently has almost 70,000 likes, their most liked by almost 30,000,  and has been reposted by several other Gossip Girl accounts from there. Yes, Kiera and I both put it on our snap stories.

Then to top off my week, and to validate that people think I’m funny even more Her Campus national posted it on Instagram and Facebook where it has 62,000 likes, 28,800 shares, and 43,000 comments and counting.

For those wondering, I have a book tour, clothing line, and reality show all currently in the works. Always happy to take pics with fans to keep me humble with this new found fame.

Until next time(me),

XOXO,

Gossip Girl
