Meet Campus Cutie – Kenzie Krueger

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Name: Kenzie Krueger

Hometown: Buffalo City, WI

Major: Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management with a specialization in Event Planning Management

Year: Senior (Graduating in May!)

Relationship Status: Taken by Bradley David Chandler for 4 years

HC: Describe yourself in three words.

KK: Determined. Enthusiastic. Driven.

HC: At any given moment, you are most likely to be found where on campus?

KK: In Heritage Hall, in hospitality classes or in the MSC in meetings because I’m involved with many different clubs on campus!

HC: How are you involved on campus?

KK: I am currently the President of the organization on campus, Stout Events Society (if you’re interested in making Event Planning a career, we meet every other Tuesday in the MSC Cedar/Maplewood Rooms!). I am also a student member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). I work on campus for Stoutonia as the Advertising Sales Manager on the Editorial Board, and I am on the Executive Planning Committee for the Career Conference where I’ve helped out in Employee Relations and Student Registration, and am excited to work on the Marketing Team this coming spring semester! I am also on the School of Hospitality Leadership (SHL) Committee which is devoted to the involvement of all student org leaders who fall under the Hospitality department.

HC: Who is your style icon?

KK: I would say my style icon is a hard toss up between Jennifer Lawrence and Lauren Conrad. I’ve been told I could be Jennifer’s twin with my hair and eyes, but I’m always drawn to Lauren’s style when scrolling through Pinterest!

HC: What qualities do you look for in a significant other?

KK: Beard. I just need my man to have a beard. Oh, and he has to be a Chicago Cubs fan. (So probably just Jake Arrieta). Definitely someone who can keep up with me! I’m always on the go with an enthusiastic and crazy personality! I like to laugh and make others laugh, so if we can keep each other laughing I know I have a great partner in crime! I’m very independent and like to think I have a strong head on my shoulders, but I love having a support system who keeps me grounded and makes me a better person. I also like my man to be as determined and driven as I am. I want us on the same page, so it’s important to me that he is career-oriented and enjoys some afternoon baseball.

HC: What would be your ideal date?

KK: My ideal date would be a beer in my hand, sitting at Wrigley Field in Chicago, watching a Cubs baseball game on a summer day.

HC: What are three things you cannot live without?

KK: Family. Chocolate. Social Media.

HC: What is a surprising fact about you?

KK: I can click my tongue louder than anyone I’ve ever met! Seriously, if you ever see me on campus I’d be happy to show you!

HC: Why did you decide to come to Stout?

KK: My sister and I are best friends, so when she came to Stout and I was able to visit her on the weekends, I fell in love with the campus! I also love the hands-on learning and the fact that the class sizes are small enough that my professors know me by my first name. #Polytechnic

HC: What are you looking forward to doing this winter break?

KK: I’m excited to see my family for a short time and then I’m going to Spain for three weeks for the Food & Wine Pairing course through Stout! I’m super excited to get a new cultural experience and learn more about different wines. I also recently booked my day trip to Paris with some of the people going while in Spain, so I’m excited to see the Eiffel Tower!

HC: What are your goals after graduation?

KK: I’ve been applying for jobs like crazy, so my goal is to get a career in Event Planning/Public Relations for a large, Fortune 500 company, preferably in a warmer state. I’d love to plan large conferences and tradeshows. I’m very career-driven and excited to see what my future has in store for me with all of the experience I’ve gained through Stout and my internships!

HC: What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?

KK: I love all of the Christmas music and I enjoy giving gifts to family and friends! It’s such a great feeling to make someone’s day by giving them a gift you put so much thought into.
