Another Valentine’s Day is coming and that means another round of stale jokes about being single. We get it: You are single. Many find Valentine’s Day just to be “Single’s Awareness Day.” However, this does not have to be the case! Just because you are single does not mean that there is no one that loves you. It is similar to the concept of Galentine’s Day, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day just for girlfriends. Valentine’s Day is an awesome holiday just for loving, and it doesn’t necessary have to be a romantic love. Here are some ways that you can celebrate Valentine’s day without a boyfriend or girlfriend.Â
Set up a day just to hang out with your friends
Here is a perfect excuse to spend a day with your friends. Even if your friends are in a relationship, simply set up a different day that might not be exactly on Valentine’s Day. Enjoy this day with people you love and challenge each other to indulge in even the cheesiest parts of Valentine’s Day. Take a trip to Walmart or Target and take a stroll through the Valentine aisle. Buy all the candy and the on sale chick flicks and go back to your dorm to eat sweets, watch movies, and maybe even bake some cupcakes or something. Whatever floats your boat…go for it.Â
Chill with your family
If you are a person who is close with their family then make it a family weekend. Take the trip home and bake with the fam, or even go out to eat with them. You don’t have to be alone on Valentine’s day unless you want to. Nobody will love you more than your family, so take that into appreciation and spend some quality time with them.Â
Take a Me- DateÂ
Don’t be afraid to use this day to treat yo self. Purchase a face mask, whitening strips, nose strips, a bunch of snacks, and some wine. Watch a few movies and take some time to focus on yourself. There’s no shame in loving yourself this Valentine’s Day.Â
As you can see, there are more ways than one to enjoy this Valentine’s Day without a negative attitude. Whatever suits you, there are options. Yes, people in relationships will be posting pictures and getting each other gifts. This does not mean that you have to feel sorry for yourself. Who knows, maybe next year that will be you. For now, though, just enjoy time spent with family, friends, and yourself.Â
