The minute Jeffree Star announced that he was releasing a new eyeshadow palette, I couldn’t contain my excitement. As a fan of Jeffree Star, his makeup line, and especially his Velour Liquid Lipstick in the shade Androgyny, I was ready for a palette inspired by the mauve-toned lip.
On February 2nd, Jeffree announced that he was revealing the palette on YouTube. When I finally viewed the video, I was a bit disappointed with the palette.
The top row has five shadows on the warmer side, which is okay for me. The bottom includes the famous Androgyny, a red, a military green, and a duo of blue. As a fan of more natural looks, I was let down by the fact that there were blues and greens in the palette, which I was not expecting at all.
I shouldn’t be surprised by this palette because Jeffree is well known for creating exotic and over-the-top looks. He is also famous for his Beauty Killer palette, which has some pretty crazy colors.
To be honest, after seeing this reveal, I won’t be buying the Androgyny palette. I still love Jeffree, his company, and everything he stands for. I do hope that he releases more for the fans that don’t do over-the-top makeup and opt for an every-day type of eyeshadow palette.
