There really is nothing like hearing that a snow day is quickly approaching! That sudden rush of excitement at the thought of not having to wake up for your 8am, those little prayers you say before bed being answered, and finally, that wave of relief when you FINALLY get that text saying that classes have been cancelled! So, what are you going to do with your day off? Here are 5 easy tips and tricks to planning out your perfect snow day.

1. Take advantage of sleeping in!

You know you don’t want to let this opportunity slip out of your hands, and there’s nothing better than sleeping all snuggly and warm when you know that the world outside is completely frozen. So, show no shame when sleeping in to 11! You don’t have anything important to do; it’s snowing for goodness sake! Take the time to catch up on all those z’s- you deserve it!

2. Give yourself an hour or two to be productive

While you have the time, why not use it to catch up on the rest of your work for the week? This way you won’t be in a rush the night before when you have to cram in a reading or two. We all work better when we aren’t under stress, so take the time for some good ole fashioned constructive studies!

3. Stock up on your hot drinks!

There really is nothing better than a hot cup of tea or cocoa on a cold day to keep you nice and cozy on your day off! Snuggle up in bed with your favorite warm drink; the ladies at Her Campus would recommend a nice cup of Yogi tea to really take the edge off the stress of not having class… Sometimes it’s the little things that help the most!

4. It’s time to crack into your Netflix queue

You know you’ve been looking for the time to binge on that one show that everyone but you has seen. Well, now is that time! Go ahead, watch that entire season of Stranger Things: who are we to judge?! This is your day, lady, and you deserve to seize it! Besides, now you’ll finally understand just what it is that everyone is talking about. We all know what it’s like to be completely lost, so now it’s your time to shine! Or, if Netflix isn’t your thing, none of us are going to judge if you decide to snuggle up with your favorite book. That’s good too!

5. Find yourself a snow day buddy!

There is nothing better than spending your time with your BFF. Unless you’d prefer to be alone, make some time for you and your “person” to relax and enjoy some time together! Everything’s better with your partner in crime, and if you’re going to be snowed in you might as well be stuck with someone you adore! Get comfy, get crafty, get together. Create memories that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life, you never know what you can accomplish with your best friend!

So, when it starts to get chilly and you can feel that snow day coming, use your free time wisely! There’s nothing worse than a snow day gone to waste, so take your time, be productive at your own pace, relax, and have a blast! It might be cold outside, baby, but that’s no excuse to be boring. Make your snow day the envy of all of your friends! And don’t forget to stay warm.
