Underrated Joys of Being an Adult

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

1. In the mood for cake? Make one. Don’t have the ingredients? Buy one. Eat it all at once. Don’t cut pieces, grab a fork and go for it.

2. Sleepovers still exist, and now they happen any night, not just Friday or Saturday. Get together after dinner, or get together at midnight. Leave the following morning at nine after breakfast, or two in the afternoon after just waking up.

3. Eat whatever you want for dinner. In fact, eat whatever you want for breakfast too. A bowl of ice cream, fancy buttered bread or an entire baking sheet of dinosaur chicken nuggets.

4. Seeing that credit score grow.

5. Being able to brag about sticking to your budget.

6. You drive. Your friends drive. Nothing is stopping you from going anywhere you want to go (within reason, because responsibilities).

7. Keeping your place clean for the entire day. Dishes done, clothes folded.

8. Seeing how much you saved at the bottom of your shopping receipt.

9. Get a dog, get a cat, get a ferret. Always wanted a pet? Now is your chance, get to the shelter!

10. Using an entire pen without losing it.

11. Using an entire tube of chapstick without losing it.

12. Be naked.

13. Waking up on your own before noon. So that’s what the morning looks like.
