Fast Food Around Binghamton and in General: What’s Good?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Feasting on fast food is a guilty pleasure we all like to partake in every once in a while. Whether you’re craving Mexican, Italian, Chinese, or American, there’s a fast food place that can satisfy your needs. But what fast food places are worth the hype? Here’s my general consensus on popular food options: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

First we have the almighty, highly regarded, godly venue we refer to as Chipotle. I feel like with Chipotle, you either love it or just don’t understand it. I do think it’s good- it satisfies my hunger, doesn’t make me sick, tastes pretty good, etc. But do I understand the hype? No. Personally, I think Moes is a lot better than Chipotle (please don’t hurt me). I mean, I’m a big fan of condiments- and Moes offers a salsa bar. Unlimited salsa? I’m there.

Panera is another place that some people could probably live off for the rest of their lives. Do I like it? Yes- I love the broccoli cheddar soup and the Mediterranean panini. Also, their macaroni and cheese is beautiful if you’re willing to consume like a thousand calories in one sitting. The portions at Panera are aesthetically pleasing and filling. You get it and you’re not sure if it’ll be enough, but it usually gets the job done for me. And, can we talk about Panera’s iced green tea? I tried it on a whim and it blew me away. I literally refilled and took more home.

Binghamton offers a pretty good variety of places to choose from, if you can get yourself off campus. Just to throw in some good random places I’ve visited- Ebishura sushi next to Insomnia is a good time. They do half off on Mondays and Wednesdays. CoreLife is great if you like rice and salad bowls, and their outdoor seating is going to be gorgeous once the weather gets nice. I recently went to this place called Despina’s Mediterranean downtown for gyros and I remembered how great middle eastern food is: their hummus was so good I could have eaten it by itself. Right next to it is novel tea, a place with a variety of Asian snacks and bubble tea. As for classics, Applebee’s half off appetizers is so underrated around here! And iHop always tastes amazing and is always open (literally 24 hours every day).

Pranjal is part of the chapter team at Her Campus; she is a freshman studying Philosophy, Politics, and Law at Binghamton University. When not dorming at school, she resides in Albany, which is upstate to everyone who lives in New York City but not actually that upstate. When Pranjal has down time, she enjoys watching One Tree Hill and The Office. She eats a lot of ice cream. She's also very obsessed with dogs- if there is a dog, she's petting it. Her dream is to be a lawyer living the American Dream in a state with a year-round warm sunny climate. If you want to hear more- follow her twitter @pranjjjpatel !
