Mardi Gras Balls As Told By The Office

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

On friday night, I attended my very first Mardi Gras ball. The ball was Sound of Music themed, and can only be described as whimsical, elaborate, and down right crazy. I spent a majority of my night thinking, “I’m certainly not in Pennsylvania anymore”. I’m not even sure we have debutantes in Pennsylvania? Miss PA Dairy or something, sure, but nothing even close to Mardi Gras royalty (unless you would consider the Farm Show pageantry?). Regardless, I was blown away by the sheer decadence of the event. There was an endless supply of food, drinks, and white-gloved socialites. The truth is, I was so confused about the bacchanalian vibes radiating from the party, that I began to think in tv shows. The ball was an interesting, intense, and inspiring experience, the likes of which have only been seen in the Office. I know the parallel might not make sense now, but keep reading and you’ll find out!

1. When you have no clue what’s going on so you look at your New Orleans friends like:

2. When you realize you are one of only five people who are not from New Orleans.

3.  When someone takes the last crawfish slider.

4. When you realize you’re being judged by everyone and their mother (is it the farmer’s tan? Or the fact that I neglected to get a pedicure?).

5. When the band finally starts playing the good stuff.

6. When the southern royalty beau of your dreams asks another girl to dance.

7. When you realize this is actually insanely fun.
