8 Signs You’re Already So Over Spring Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Spring semester is the home stretch. It’s what gets us to summer and, if we’re seniors, to graduation. That being said, it’s a struggle to get to that point. Here are some signs that you’re so ready for it to be done.

1. You think of every possible excuse to not do homework.

Gotta eat? Well, you can’t focus on homework at the same time, so you might as well watch an episode of The Office (which quickly turns into seven). Oh, and your nails look haggard? Might as well groom and paint those after dinner. Then you can’t do anything with wet nails.

2. You barely even care about spring break and instead skip to planning for summer.

Spring break is a solid week (still appreciated), but if you’re not getting out of the Midwest to go someplace warmer, is it even worth it? Summer, on the other hand, involves warm weather all of the time and is three months long. If you’re graduating, the desire for summer might increase tenfold.

3. A hint of warm weather appears, and all you want to do is spend time in the outdoors.

Following the first two reasons, the warmth is a perfect excuse not to spend your day holed up inside cranking out a paper, and it also gives you a tease of the summer you’re so looking forward to.

4. You’re considering dropping a class or already have even though it’s halfway through the semester.

You just couldn’t do it anymore. Sometimes ya gotta take the L, or in the case of University of Iowa students, the W.

5. Deadlines don’t affect you in the slightest.

Oh, you have an eight to ten page paper? Due Thursday? You’ll do it Wednesday night. Maybe Thursday morning. It’ll be fine.

6. You’re lucky if you even remember those deadlines.

It’s happened more than once where a professor asks for the discussion questions you were supposed to have prepared, and your eyes bulge out of your head, and your heart sinks. Whoops.

7. All of the organizational things you had in place have fallen apart.

You had a plan for those deadlines and were so excited to be organized at the start of the New Year. The color coding and stickers in your planner were well-intentioned, but now you’re lucky if you even scribble down an assignment that’s on the syllabus.

8. Everything else outside of school has started to fall apart as well.

Exercise? Sounds good, but bed and Netflix sounds better. Diet? That’s in shambles. Finances? You’re lucky if you have $50 left in your bank account. Relationships? You meant to text that one friend back about a week ago, but it’s the thought that counts?

But in all seriousness, if these are continuously constant in your life, then it might be time to seek out some help. Struggling to keep your head above water every once in a while is normal, but constantly drowning is not. While balancing school and other obligations is hard, it shouldn’t keep you from being a functioning human and doing things that make you happy! We’re supporting you here at Her Campus Iowa. You can do it!
