If dog is man’s best friend and diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then surely coffee is the sleepy-student’s best friend. In Bristol, we are hardly spoilt for choice on where to grab a coffee; Bristol boasts more than 200 cafes, many of which are located in the heart of the city. Here are just 6 that really are worth a visit:
Playground Coffee house

This café is perfect for a rainy day. Styled like a children’s playground, the seats are swings and there are a tonne of board games meaning you can spend hours in there without even noticing. They have also just increased their menu size, introducing some delicious speciality teas such as Cherry and Coffee, or a classic refreshing green tea. This is my favourite café in Bristol and I would recommend it highly.
The Tea Birds

Located just at the bottom of Park Street, this quaint café is full of character. They opened in 2013 as a vintage tearoom, specialising in fine loose teas. The range of coffee they offer, all from local suppliers, is another reason why this independent café makes it onto the list. And if you fancy a snack, their scones are delicious, and extremely affordable.
Cafe Kino

As a Vegetarian, finding a café so ethically conscious was so important. Café Kino is a Vegan café, priding itself on providing a safe space for all customers, and ethically sourcing all its produce. Moreover, they source their coffee beans locally, and coffee is incredibly tasty! I recommend their Chai Tea Latte as both a warming and refreshing delicious treat.
Mocha Mocha

The location of this thriving Café makes it perfect for Bristol’s students. Located just behind the ASSL, this is the ideal café to visit between lectures or during a 9-hour library slog. The cafe source their coffee beans locally, and have such a huge range of hot drinks, ranging from a classic Americano to a Coconut Bounty hot chocolate. Mocha Mocha also serves affordable food, including some especially tasty sandwiches. However, the café does get quite busy at lunch times, so be quick to grab a seat.
Boston Tea Party

If you love brunch, it would be surprising if you have never visited BTP. With five locations across Bristol, no matter where you live this café is hugely accessible. It excels in everything it does: seriously yummy smoothies, succulent sandwiches and satisfying coffees are just some of the incredible things on their menu. I would highly recommend their Sweetcorn Hash, as well as their classic filter coffee.
Bar Chocolat

This is one of Bristol’s lesser-known cafes, but if you love hot chocolate, this is the perfect place for you. Located in Clifton Village, the cafe specialises in hot chocolates and chocolate treats. It isn’t the most affordable venue on this list, but the hot chocolate has been described as the best in Bristol and is super warming on a cold day.
