Best (Affordable) Makeup Products for the Broke College Girl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Keeping up with beauty trends can be expensive for the average college student. With the cost of tuition, housing, and food, there’s little room in the budget for high-end beauty products. But, you don’t always have to break the bank to get model-like skin or plump Kylie lips. I present to you, 11 drug store beauty products which literally are the definition of “ballin’ on a budget!”

1. Garnier 5 Sec Blur Skin Renew Instant Smoother: $14

This primer is one of my favorites for instantly rejuvenated skin! Consistent use of this product over time will improve the overall look of your skin, making your pores less visible.

2. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Matte and Poreless: $8

This foundation is perfect for those with oily skin. Its matte finish minimizes the look of pores, and leaves your skin looking natural and smooth.

3. Maybelline Better Skin Concealer: $7

This super hydrating concealer is suitable for all skin types. In less than 3 weeks, this product reduces the appearance of dark circles and other imperfections. It also comes in 6 different colors.

4. Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder: $13

I love, love, LOVE this product! It’s perfect for girls like me that struggle with acne. This product is very gentle on sensitive skin, and doesn’t leave you with that “cakey” look.

5. Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer: $9

This is one of the most natural looking bronzers out there. This product seals in moisture, so you will never get that dried-out or streaky look. It’s also hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, dermatologist approved, and free of paraben, gluten and oil!

6. Airspun Loose Translucent Powder: $6

I really like this powder because it comes with SO MUCH product! I purchased it for the first time almost a year ago and haven’t even used half of the product.  It is totally worth it for the price and quality!

7. Wet n wild Highlighter Boozy Brunch: $6

Highlighter is all the rage right now! This highlighter has incredible pigmentation for such a low price. This product will leave you looking like a glowing goddess!

8. Revlon Color Stay Liquid Eyeliner: $5

I’ve been using this eyeliner for years now! I like it better than any high-end liquid eyeliner that I have ever tried. This product stays on all day without smudging. This eyeliner is also good for people who wear contact lenses, as well as those with sensitive eyes.

9. Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes: $6

This super affordable mascara is one of the best drugstore options out there! Not only does it make your eyelashes look thick, but it also conditions them, leaving them supple and healthy!

10. Maybelline Brow Drama Pro Palette: $10

I totally swear by this product! It comes with a pigment powder, highlighting powder, setting wax, a duel ended angle brush, and a spoolie brush. It’s definitely worth the price considering you’re getting every eyebrow product that youneed in one! It also comes in 4 different shades for all hair colors!

11. NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick: $7

This product is great for those who are just as obsessed with liquid lipsticks as I am. Liquid lipsticks are so popular right now, and the drugstores carry so many different options. The formula is long lasting with a matte finish. It’s also waterproof, and comes in twenty-four different colors (there are a lot of dupes for the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits in this collection).
