Top Five Shoes I Have In My Dorm Closet (And You Should Too)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

I love shoes!

They make the outfit, and there are plenty of awesome pairs. Although I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a “Sneaker-Head”, I do like certain brands. When I left home for college it was hard to decide which ones I would take and which ones I would leave behind to wait for my timely return. In all honesty, I have a lot of shoes in my closet, but I only wear certain ones around campus.

Here are the top five shoe choices I felt were necessary to keep in my dorm closet!

1. Converse

Converse, affectionately known as chucks, have been around for a long time. I have way too many pairs: red, blue, mint and even clear! They go really well with flannels and are all around stylish. I love them because they are a classic, fashionable, and made to mix and match! Although they are a small reminder of my high school days, I can’t bring myself to leave them behind as I adjust to my adult life. So, I wear them religiously!

2. Dr. Martens

These super expensive, but beautifully made boots are real keepers. They go great with leggings and dresses, and they come in so many styles. I own one pair, but I cherish them. They are a dark maroon, a necessity to a berry toned wardrobe, with a little vixen to match! They are such great shoe, and I assure you, everybody else thinks so too. Everyone is sure to notice and compliment your Docs! I wear them for the edginess!

3. Moccasins

I discovered these lovely shoes only a few years ago, and I always ask my Nana for a pair every Christmas, because I wear them down to the soles. They’re soft and comfortable, a great way to show off your wacky socks, easily slipped on in case you’re running late for class or there is an undesirable fire drill! They are a must have, whether winter or spring and I wear them for the comfortability!

4. Flats

I don’t wear my flats as often, but when in doubt, they are great to have. Heels don’t work as well for my feet, so I think flats are a great go-to. They go with anything you’d want to wear and are great for a comfortable dress-up in the case of special meetings and presentations. They are that flexible shoe that is always there when you want to look presentable but feel comfortable.

5. Crocs

Ah, these are beauties! I absolutely love crocs, and I have proof I wore them before they were popular! I recently got a newer pair in December, and I constantly wear them, even on the edge of winter and spring. As a collegiate athlete, I travel long trips. Having my crocs is a sure escape for my feet, easy to slip on and off, and convenient to have. Even more surprising, they keep my feet warm without socks! They are cool, and I think that they will always be in my top five favorite shoes!
