The 13 Stages of Applying for a Job as told by Rachel Green

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

Applying for jobs can be hard and stressful. We would much rather binge-watch friends than write more cover letters, and if you’re anything like us you might have gone through these stages before too.

1. You’re fed up with your old job/the poor life. Time to move up in the world.

2. So you update your resume. Babysitter? More like Child Care Supervisor.

3. And check for spelling mistakes.

4. You start to get desperate.

5. Applying for things that you’re definitely not qualified for.

6. And then you get a call for an interview. Time to get ready.

7. How dressy is too dressy?

8. That’s better.

9. But you totally forgot to clean up your social media profiles (here’s why you should fix that).

10. And even though you may not get the job…

11. …sometimes they’re nice enough to let you know.

12. Which means that you can keep looking for your dream job. It’s out there.

13. Because this is the best feeling in the world for broke students.

Good luck to everyone out there searching for jobs this summer!
