“Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with”- Carrie Bradshaw

To the friends I didn’t see coming:

In my first 18 years, friends had come and gone. I was never friend-less but I hadn’t really found the people I “clicked” with. I had plenty of friends from cheer and from my classes and in my freshman year I met my first true best friend, and we are still friends today; but, when she left for college, I suddenly felt lost and left behind. I thought that at this point in my high school career, it was too late and everyone already had their established friend groups. That second semester gave me more than a severe case of senioritis- it also gave me three of my very best friends. I never expected to talk to any of you after graduation, but now I can’t imagine my life without you.

Every day it fills me with such pride, love, and joy to be able to call such beautiful humans my best friends. I never knew how much I needed our friendship, until it snuck up on us. I can honestly say you guys have changed my life for the better. I now know and can say with 100% certainty that you will always be with me. You will be by my side on the day I get married, in the waiting room of the hospital the day my first child is born, and there for all the moments in between. I can’t wait to be there for all of your big moments, to watch you succeed, and to see you find happiness. For the times when success seems impossible, happiness seems unattainable, and the times when you need a hand to hold, I promise to be your hand to hold, your shoulder to cry on, and your personal cheerleader. I never would have believed it, if someone told me sophomore year that I would be saying these things about you. Now so many of the memories we have made together are plastered all over the walls of my dorm room. There is no twist in life that brings me as much joy (and frustration) as this one.

Of the many things that have come to mind while writing this, “thank you” is the most prevalent. Thank you for accepting me into your friend group, and loving me with all my quirks. Thank you for making me laugh on the days when I don’t think it’s possible and giving me something to come home to. Thank you for sharing my successes and helping me through my failures. Thank you for letting me be the mom of the group and love you all endlessly. Thank you for finding me at a time when I needed it most, even if I didn’t realize it at the time. Most importantly, thank you for always being down to share chicken nuggets, no matter what time of night. There are so many things to thank you for and no amount of words will ever be enough to express just how thankful I am for your friendship.

I love you all forever. And even if you change your minds, I have too many ugly pictures and I know too much. In other words, you’re stuck.

Infinite x’s and o’s,

Your eternally grateful best friend, mom, and number one fan
