911 audio has surfaced following the arrest of former Bachelor star Chris Soules, who has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash that occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday, People reports. An emotional Soules can be heard in the 911 call, originally released by TMZ, explaining the situation to the dispatcher and checking the victim’s pulse before he left the scene.
Soules rear-ended a tractor with his truck, plunging the tractor and the driver, 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher, into a ditch. “He’s not conscious,” Soules tells the dispatcher.
The call then continues for several minutes, and a very distraught Soules can be heard asking people nearby if they know how to do CPR. He then proceeds to check whether Mosher still has a pulse. The audio ends with Soules asking if he can call the dispatcher back.
Soules allegedly left the scene at around 8:20 p.m. and was later found in his hometown, where he was arrested at 1:16 a.m. on Tuesday, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to People. It is not yet apparent why Soules left the scene.
Even more devastating, it appears that Soules knew the man that was killed in the accident, Us Weekly reports. “Everyone around here is in shock,” said Richard Roepke, a relative of Mosher. “He knew them, they’re neighbors. We’re feeling very sad, everyone knows Chris’ family.”
This is understandably a very difficult time for both families involved.
