This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

“Once Upon A Time” is a show on ABC that is all about fairytales in the modern world. They take stories that we all know and love, such as Snow White, and makes it into a story that could be told today. On Sun. May 14 2017, ABC aired the “Once Upon A Time” season 6 finale, but only 5 days before this finale, fans did not know if the show was going to be returning for a season 7.

With the loom of a final battle on the show, most fans were thinking that season 6 was the final season. On Thurs. May 11, ABC announced a list of some shows that were canceled and returning. On the returning side, “Once Upon A Time” was present and fans were spilt on their feels.

On May 8, almost a week before the finale, Jennifer Morrison announced that she was leaving the hit show. Morrison plays Emma Swan, who is the lead on the show. Fans were wondering if Morrison leaving the show meant that Emma would be dying in the season finale.

Along with Morrison, 5 other stars, who play main cast members, will be leaving after season 6. This list includes Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore, Emilie de Ravin, and Rebecca Mader.

This only Lana Parrilla, Colin O’Donoghue and Robery Carlyle as the returning cast members. The co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are bringing in Andrew J West, as grown up Henry, and Alison Fernandez, as his daughter, as series regulars for season 7.

Horowitz and Kitsis have told fans that season 7 will not be like anything else on “Once Upon A Time”. With most of the cast leaving, they are making season 7 more of a spin off that is using the same name, though Horowitz and Kitsis are calling it a resetting.

ABC revealed this tidit about season 7 when releasing its fall schedule on Tuesday May 16, ABC revealed this tidbit about season 7 in releasing its new fall schedule on Tuesday morning: “After six seasons, the residents of the enchanted forest face their greatest challenge yet as The Evil Queen, Captain Hook and Rumplestiltskin join forces with a grown up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to once again bring hope to their world and ours.”
