Best Drug Store Deodorants for Extra-Sweaty Girls

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Not everyone can relate to sweaty pits, but a lot of women suffer from excessive perspiration. Since middle school, I’ve been known in my friend-group as the sweaty girl. It sucked not being able to wear certain shirts because I knew I would ruin them, and I would always wear a jacket to cover up my pit stains, which caused me to sweat even more. From middle school to college, I’ve spent (and wasted) so much money on drug store deodorants that claimed to stop my sweating. Though nothing has stopped it completely, there were a few over the years that lessened the flow. The key is to make sure the deodorant you wear is actually an antiperspirant, since deodorant only stops the bad odor. Here are my top seven favorite deodorant/antiperspirants, differing in application style and brand.

Men’s Deodorant

Several men’s deodorants will work better than women’s, but I’ve found that other girls also use Old Spice. The best scents (for a girl not to smell like her father) are FIJI and BEARGLOVE. I also have preferred to use an invisible solid in men’s, rather than a gel.

Women’s Gel Deodorants

Gel is my least preferred application style for deodorant, but you gotta use whatever gets the job done. The best women’s deodorants for me that are in gel form have been Women Mitchum Clinical Gel in Powder Fresh scent, and Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel in Completely Clean scent.

Women’s Invisible Solid Deodorants

These next two are technically an invisible solid application, but it is used the same way as a gel, where you turn the dial to make the product come out. I have found that when using the traditional style solid, your sweat and odor remain on the stick and are reapplied to the skin the next time it is used. The application style used in Degree Clinical Protection, 5-in-1 Protection and in Dove Clinical Protection in Cool Essentials scent allows for fresh product to be introduced to the skin each time.

Night-time Only Deodorant

This final product is unique in that it can only be used before going to bed. The purpose of Clinical Strength Certain Dri Anti-Perspirant Roll-On is that it works itself into the skin overnight and is used in addition to your normal deodorant the following morning. It adds an extra layer of protection. A little goes a long way with this product—it is a strong formula and can burn the skin if too much is used.

Though these products are not guaranteed to stop perspiration completely, they are still helpful in making your struggle less prominent.
