Five New Musicians You Need to Listen to Right Now!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

Here is a list of artists from the alternative scene that really have the chance to be on tour all over the world real soon. Now that spring-summer season is here- in Brazil – is good to change our daily playlist songs to match the “sun mood”, right?

1- Flor

The Most Radicalist

The lead singer Zachary Grace, bassist Dylan William, guitarist McKinley Kitts, and drummer Kyle Hill are Flor’s band members -A synthpop band different from all the others you have ever heard. They are from Oregon, The United States and released their first album this year, called “Come out. You’re Hiding”. The band’s goal was to bring a touch of the 21st century to the sound of the 1980s. Dylan William is the producer of the band, as well as artists like Halsey. I recommend you to listen to ‘back again’ and ‘warm blood’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fwdQv6_Vac

2. Ofelia K

Shervin Lainez The pop-indie singer from Los Angeles brings magic to our ears. Some songs from Ofelia K –  very emotional and basically talking about bad and good relationships – make me remember Taylor Swift, as she is an alternative version of her. “Bad boys” from the EP Chaos Cave, released in 2016, is a good example of that. On the other hand, songs like “Cinco” (from the same EP), gave her music a dark and unique atmosphere that you should not miss. https://open.spotify.com/track/1smJSvifgvmlf7JPB2LkQh?si=jmYjwlPU

3. Coast Modern

Atwood Magazine

Luke Atlas and Coleman Trapp formed the indie pop duo Coast Modern. Maybe you’ll notice some similarity with Grouplove and Cage the Elephant, although the duo has mentioned “Weezer” and “The Beach Boys” as some of their influences. Particularly, I think Coleman Trapp voice is almost the same as Matt Shultz (lead singer from Cage The Elephant). The duo released their first album this year and I highly recommend you start listening by “The Way It Was” (for sure an amazing summer song).   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvVtbenDZxA

4. Rad Horror

MonkeyBuzz

New Jersey’s alternative rock band was funded by the singer Dylan Scott, who worked writing and producing songs for Halsey, and has been on tour with The 1975 and Weezer. The band gained notoriety when digital influencer Karol Queiroz staged the video clip “Sad Boy”, released in June. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n16qQhL5qOY

5. Jade Baraldo

Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos Jade Baraldo was known for being a contest in The Voice Brasil. After the reality show, she began working on the production of her first studio album. The best thing about her music is that she brings Lorde and Banks aesthetic to Brazilian pop music. Her song “Brasa” has been the number one for nine days in the “Brazil Virals” spotify playlist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythbLbMnlAg
