If you’re anything like me, you have been planning your Halloweekend attire since late August. If you’re not, that’s okay because you have come to the right place to start preparing for one of the best weekends of college. Your Halloweekend really does depend on your costume. What you choose to wear says a lot about you, so make sure you choose carefully. Something that I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH is that if you are a freshman, only do a group costume with your friends if you are comfortable with the costume choice. Speaking from experience, wearing a group costume that your not comfortable with can haunt you (no pun intended). If your friends wants to do a costume together, here are a few group and solo ideas that will help you out.
Bachelor Contestants
This costume is super easy to put together and will look super cute. Just wear your favorite dress, and split a bouquet of roses between your friends. The guys on campus won’t understand your costume, but the ladies will know how clever you are. Bonus points if you can get a couple of friends be contestants who didn’t get a rose!
Unicorn
Buyer beware, I have a slight feeling that this costume will be the 2017 version of the alien costume last year. Meaning that, there is a possibility that every girl on campus might be wearing this. However, there are a few ways you can tackle this costume. You can try it with a simple white dress, or a white body suit and multi colored tutu!
Lola Bunny
Lola Bunny is a childhood icon that won’t let you down. She’s fun, sporty, and cute. This costume is also very affordable if you order the tank from Amazon sooner rather than later!
Mailman
This costume is way more clever than it seems, trust me. The key to pulling off the mailman costume is half in how you wear it, and half what you do with it. The best way to pull this costume off is by toting around fake letters in your mailbag. Print off about 30 letters saying different things like “A Letter from Hogwarts”, and expusion letter from PC, or a love note from a secret admirer. Just promise me that you’ll wear a better hat than the one that this model chose…
Toddlers in Tiaras
This costume is perfect for the girl who is dying to wear a tutu this Halloween. It’s an affordable costume that you can get at any party store. Pro Tip: In addition to your pacifier, also bring along a baby bottle.
Alvin and the Chipmunks
This is another costume that you could do in a number of different ways. Personally, this version of the costume is my favorite because of the pigtail buns. However, you can opt for longer shirts with shorts, or dresses would work too!
Holes
This is a great group costume because you aren’t limited to a set number of characters. Also, you could wear it with a cropped white tank or a regular tank. How you choose to pull this ensemble off is up to you and your group. Childhood nostalgia will also be invoked and everyone will appreciate your costume.
Holly Golightly
This is the less basic Breakfast at Tiffany’s option, this costume is cute and comfortable. It’s also way better than the classic risky business costume while also sitll wearing essentially the same outfit. The eye mask can be found at a good price on Amazon, as well as the tassel ear plugs.
Hershey Kiss
An easy and adorable DIY costume. A sparkly silver dress, or skirt and top combo, wrap a party hat in tin foil, and write “Kisses” on a strip of paper and you are good to go!
Fake News
This costume is sure to get people talking. You could always buy the dress pictured above, or if you’re crafty you could try to make the ensemble yourself. Either way, with the buzz that #FakeNews has had this year, this costume is going to be a hit.
