5 Things You Can Do to Get into the Halloween Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CMU chapter.

It’s the middle of October, which basically means that its almost Halloween! Sometimes it can be hard to make time to get in the mood for a random holiday, but here are five things you can do to relax and feel a little more ~spooky~ this October!

  1. Carve a Jack-O-Lantern. Honestly, even if you don’t end up carving the pumpkin itself, it’s still pretty Halloweeny to have a pumpkin in the first place. But if you do end up carving it, it adds a whole other level to the whole thing.

  1. Watch Horror Movies. This one is super easy, but what is Halloween about if not getting scared?

  1. Bake Halloween Themed Treats. I love seeing cute cupcakes that are supposed to be witches, or some monster, or literally anything Halloween related. It has always been my goal to make something cute like this, not only do they look nice but they are delicious!

  1. Buy a Huge Bag of Candy and Eat it. Buy one of those huge bags meant for trick-or-treaters, and honestly just eat it yourself because you are not going to get any trick-or-treaters in your dorm room.

  1. Think of costume ideas. Sure, you can go out and buy a costume I guess but that’s also a very high key thing to do. Thinking of costumes you can make out of the clothes you have can be a fun way to pass time, and also looking at crazy makeup tutorials for costumes is also a great way to pass time!
