A Nacogdoches staple, Flashback Cafe, has recently been renamed as Lanana Creek Icehouse, been remodeled and has a new menu.

Lanana Creek Icehouse is located at 109 Wettermark St. behind the SFA theatre building. The restaurant is open from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays and Sundays and close at 1 a.m. on Saturdays. On Saturdays brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the bar closes by 1 a.m. Happy Hour is open until 7 p.m. daily and all day on Sundays.

The menu has your basic bar bites like wings, burgers and pizza but with fun twist. For example, they offer a variety of wings, and their hottest one is called “Kiss Your Tastebuds Goodbye.” They offer macaroni cheese which is baked and topped with BBQ pork and brisket which is smoked in house. The new menu contains upgraded elements of the original Flashback Cafe menu as well as new items.

“I can’t get enough of the double fried traditional wings… and the BBQ brisket pizza.” manager Monica Gonzales said.

The bar has also gotten an upgrade.

“[Customers] won’t just see the typical Dos Equis, Coors, BudLight beers, [Lanana Creek Icehouse] is trying to bring in more imports and craft beers.” Gonzales said.

The brunch menu is small and full of classic items like breakfast tacos and chicken and waffles. However, there are a couple of stand out items like the breakfast nachos and the Pardon My French Toast which is a recipe created by an SFA student named Jordan Onuoha. He would always ask for servers to fry his french toast at IHOP and it has now become an item on the Lanana Creek Icehouse menu.

“[My favorite item on the brunch menu] … is the chorizo tacos… paired with the homemade salsa.”

Lanana Creek Icehouse aims to provides a fun and inviting environment for the customers. Aside from large television screens plastered on the walls playing all types of sporting events, there are multiple pool tables, an Austin Powers themed pinball machine, a TouchTunes machine for music request and bean bag tossing on the patio. Despite being a sports bar, Lanana Creek Icehouse is a family friendly restaurant with large tables, booths and outdoor seating fit for big groups of people. The restaurant also has live music playing on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Sports memorabilia adorns the walls and ceilings of the bar.

“[Lanana Creek Icehouse] is trying to create a fun and inviting place for more than just sitting around and drinking… where [customers] actually have things to do.” Gonzales said.

My boyfriend and I had brunch at the restaurant. We sat in a cozy booth with lots of fun memorabilia on the walls. I ordered the “Pardon My French Toast” and he ordered the chorizo breakfast tacos. The french toast was a bit too greasy for my liking but if you seriously enjoy fried food this will be a treat for you. After eating we played a couple games of pinball (I am a horrible pinball player) and we really enjoyed ourselves.
