It’s that time of year again, where we all get to take a break from our crazy lives to dress up like strange things from pop-culture references over the last 3 decades or so while stuffing our faces with candy (which we do all year tbh, but during the month of October we can do it guilt-free). However, often times it’s difficult to find the inspiration, the funds, or the time to come up with a creative costume. So, here are some last minute, low-effort costumes you can make with the things you already have in your home.
1. Laundry
Just put on your comfiest sweatpants (you know, the ones that you haven’t washed in 3 months), a hoody, and six or seven ratty blankets. Comfort and style, all in one.
2. A Zombie (aka a regular college student)
Pull your dirty hair into a bun, throw on those giant glasses because you haven’t refilled your contacts prescription, and throw on those same sweatpants from costume #1.
3. Caffeinated
Just drink a bunch of your favorite coffee, energy drinks, and other unhealthy delicious beverages. The result will give you the effect of some other-worldly monster, and people will ultimately realize that you are something other than yourself for Halloween.
4. Commitment
Looking for a particularly scary costume? Just write the word ‘commitment’ on a T-shirt and people will run away from you screaming.
5. A mouse, duh.
When in doubt, a headband with animal ears is a classic last-minute costume. Pair it with lingerie, or pair it with those trusty (and crusty) ‘ol sweatpants.
