5 Ways To Celebrate Halloween In Your Twenties

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MMM chapter.

When I was younger, I would plan my Halloween costume six months in advance. The entire month of October was spent obsessing over what I was going to wear. Now, all I am planning to do on Halloween is ignore my doorbell. When you reach a certain age, you find yourself entering a gray area of Halloween celebrations. What do you do when you’re too old to ring doorbells for free candy and too old to drink beer from a keg in a dark basement? For all my twenty-somethings stuck in this category, here are some ways to have your own festivities:

1. Host your own murder-mystery party.

Hosting a murder mystery dinner party is the perfect way of making your Halloween party sound more sophisticated. You can buy a murder mystery party kit online, or set some time aside to plan your own.

2. Invite friends over to watch a horror movie.

Vote on a horror movie and grab some popcorn!

3. Have a throwback Halloween movie marathon.

If scary movies aren’t your thing, play it safe and watch some of the classic Disney Halloween movies. Halloweentown, Tower of Terror, Under Wraps, and Hocus Pocus are just a few to consider!

4. Bake Halloween treats.

Find some recipes on Pinterest and bake some goodies to enjoy while you watch a movie!

5. Have a pumpkin carving competition with your friends.

Get your creative juices flowing by hosting a pumpkin carving party with your friends! You can have a competition for best pumpkin or just do it for fun. If carving isn’t your specialty, you can buy some paint so you and your friends can have the option of painting your pumpkin, too.
