Any ladies out there who can or choose not to consume dairy products? Do any of you still love ice cream and cheat every once in while, wondering why you put yourself through the pain? Lucky for you, I have a solution for the ice cream side of things. With Halo Top’s NEW line of vegan ice cream, you can have the best of both worlds!
My partner and I decided to try three of the seven new flavors. We chose peanut butter cup, cinnamon roll, and oatmeal cookie. Overall, it was pretty good ice cream for being under 360 calories per pint. None of the ice cream made us feel guilty about eating the entire thing. A win-win in our opinion! We jotted down our first impressions while we continued to taste-test the ice cream.
An unexpected aspect of Halo Top’s ice cream is the clever feel-good captions on the seal of every pint. Here are snapshots of our samples:
Below is a snapshot of our initial thoughts.
Peanut Butter Cup:
-
The peanut butter chunks are really good and saturated with flavor.
-
Knowing it contains coconut milk, it’s easily identifiable on the first bite.
-
Chocolate ice cream base.
-
It tasted real, like non-low-calorie ice cream.
-
The base flavor and texture of the ice cream is light and airy.
-
A good balance between the chunks and airy texture.
-
Reminds us of a Wendy’s frosty.
Cinnamon Roll:
-
The coconut taste is more prevalent in this flavor.
-
It has a strong cinnamon taste that lingers.
-
Found a piece of dough in every other bite; it was good.
-
Reminds us of a spicy hot chai or a lighter and comparable version of the Ben & Jerry’s Cinnabun ice cream.
Oatmeal Cookie:
-
The oats are visible before any bite is taken.
-
Very similar to the cinnamon roll Halo Top flavor because of its color and bits.
-
Slightly different base flavor than the others that tasted like vanilla.
-
It didn’t have an airy texture.
-
Reminds us exactly of oatmeal, not ice cream. It was oatmeal in ice cream form. The taste was identical.
Give Halo Top a try the next time you need something to satisfy that sweet tooth without spending too many calories.
