The holidays are a great time to spend quality time with the people you love. That doesn’t just mean with a significant other, but with close friends as well! Here are some cute ideas for festive activities to do with your very own Holi-DATE!

1. Ice Skating

I know we all can’t be as cute as Mickey and Minnie, but we can try! Ice Skating is a great activity for couples and friends alike. Even if you’re not that good, hopefully your partners are down to catch you when fall, or at least laugh it off with you.

2. Christmas Tree Lighting

What better way to start off the holiday season than with a small trip downtown for a festive tree lighting ceremony! If you missed out on it, you can always visit the tree to take cute pictures, or decorate your own tree and have a small little ceremony yourself.

3. Gingerbread House Making

Who here likes to get creative, and has a sweet tooth? This holi-date is perfect for you! You can easily find gingerbread house making kits at your local grocery or craft store. It is a great way to get creative and spend quality time with your friends. If want to add a fun twist, make it into a competition and have people vote who has the best one! Slap on some Christmas music while you are at it.

4. Movie Marathon with Hot Chocolate

If you’re looking to have a chill night-in, there are some great holiday movies to get you into the spirit. Some of our favorites include Elf, the Home Alone series, or Love Actually, but there are many more for you to choose from. For a fun twist, add a spoonful of Nutella to your favorite hot chocolate to cozy up with.

5. Take a Stroll Under the Christmas Lights

Most busy downtown areas are filled with holiday lights. Taking a stroll with your significant other is fun and romantic. Whether it’s “Christmas in the Park” in San Jose, The Grove in L.A., or any other festive area, find your local holiday lights for a memorable night out.

We hope this gives you an idea for what to do on your holiday break. This time of year is filled with lots of joy, so we hope you have an amazing time. Happy Holidays from all of us at Her Campus!

Julia Chan is a 3rd year Global Studies and Sociology undergraduate at UCSB. She is from the bay area, specifically South San Francisco. When she's not studying or writing for Her Campus, Julia likes to sing, dance Hula and Tahitian, and take walks in scenic areas. She loves all kinds of food, but her favorites would have to be sushi and Filipino food.
Hi, Collegiettes! I'm Carmen, a Communication major at University of California, Santa Barbara and one of two Campus Correspondents for UCSB. I would love to one day work in either fashion, food, tech, financial services or philanthropy. My dream is to find a job that somehow combines several of those elements. Until I get there, I'll be munching on copious amounts of Trader Joe's dried mango, jamming out to my man, Frank Sinatra, and focusing on creating intriguing content! If you like my writing, talk to me. ;)
