5 Ways To Stay Motivated This January

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

It’s often hard to get yourself back into a routine after spending a few weeks at home away from the uni lifestyle. There are a few things you can do to help yourself get back into good habits!

1. Don’t set unrealistic goals

It’ll take a while to get back into the swing of things, so don’t plan to squeeze hours worth of reading into your most convenient break. It just won’t happen.

2. Don’t compare yourself to others

Your friend may have just bought that discounted gym membership in the January sales, but you’ve always hated working out. You’d go one time and then it’d be a waste of money.

3. Plan your time

Make sure you know which essays are due when and how much work they require. You’ll thank yourself later when you’re not pulling an all-nighter before the due date.

4. Spend time relaxing

Everyone needs their down time! Whether it be retail therapy, going out for a meal with friends or a visit to the cinema, you will thank yourself for a well-earned rest.

5. Remember to think about the long-term

January has a bad press for being a month where nobody has any money, the weather is miserable and everyone wishes it was still Christmas. Think of how there’s still another eleven months of the year ahead and the year is what you make of it!
