Q: What is your position with Her Campus? (Staff writer, Executive Board member, etc.)

A: Staff Writer

Q: How did you get involved with the club and why?

A: As a high school senior browsing the internet for advice concerning college, I would often find myself reading an article from Her Campus. Never did I think I’d get the chance to write for UK’s chapter! I saw a poster about applying to be a writer one day a few months into the school year and knew immediately I wanted to join because of my love for writing and my hope to empower women through it.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a writer?

A: Writing has always meant freedom of expression to me, and it is very much my passion and escape. I very much consider myself to be a better writer than speaker, so it allows me to use my voice to the best of my ability.

Q: Any challenges about being a writer?

A: I am often very insecure about my writing. There are some times I don’t consider my work good enough or play the horrible comparison game. I just have to remind myself that learning to write is a journey and I’m running my own race.

Q: Are you involved in other clubs on campus? If so, which ones?

A: I am very much involved with Christian Student Fellowship and absolutely love it there. Also, I have recently become interested in Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors Society, on campus.

Q: What is your dream job?

A: My grown up answer is that I would love to be a novelist and write stories like the ones that inspired me as a girl. However, the biggest truth is that I’d be extremely content working any job at Disney.

Q: Hobbies?

A: Aside from writing, I am an avid reader who loves to sing and play her ukulele. I can also be found in a coffee shop at any given time.

Q: Any advice for new students?

A: It’s ok to be overwhelmed, but there really are nice, kind people out there. Take the risk and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and meet people. You are capable and you can do it, no matter what it is.

Q: What is your favorite memory so far at UK?

A: One night a good friend of mine came over and we ordered Insomnia Cookies and watched Hocus Pocus and just laughed and talked about life. It was the first time I realized I had made a new friend here and was truly comfortable being at college.
