As a college student, I know how important getting all of your work finished is, but I also know how important it is to take time to relax and do something you enjoy. How I like to relax is to watch Netflix, and sometimes that means binge-watching a TV show. I enjoy how easy it is to just sit and watch something without having to pay too much attention. That way, I can give my brain a rest. Here’s some of my favorite TV shows to binge watch.

  1. Easy

This show is exactly what the title says, Easy. It’s easy to relax and watch without having to concentrate too much on what is going on. The show is an anthology, so every episode follows a different story. If you don’t like one episode, you can just skip it and move on to a new story. When this show first premiered, I watched the entire first season in one day.

     2.   Atypical

Another Netflix Original, this show follows a young man in high school who has autism. He tries to navigate life with autism, while also attempting find love and to become independent of his parents. I watched this show before the fall semester began, but it was still a nice reprieve from other things. This is truly a heartfelt show that everyone can enjoy.

3.  Parks and Recreation

I’m sure most people have seen this show before, but it always makes me happy when I watch it. It’s hard to binge the entire show, but I like to watch several shows if I’m ever feeling down or just overwhelmed. If Leslie Knope can build her park, then I can get through the week.

4. Friends

This one might get some hate from people, but I will always love it. When I need a break I like to watch the first couple of seasons of Friends. Something about the 90s style always gives me the best feelings of nostalgia. Friends always reminds me of my childhood when I was watching it with my mom on DVDs. It also makes me feel like my future will be alright when it sometimes seems a little bleak.

5. Glee

For some, this may be a guilty pleasure, but I am unashamed to say that I still love this show. After watching it all through middle and high school, I can still return to this show and know it will give me a sense of hope that I can reach my goals. Glee gives its viewers hope. Iit’s not too difficult to get into, especially for someone who has previously watched it.

Grace is a Philosophy and Economics double major and a Government minor at the University of Texas at Austin. Most of her writing focuses on politics and civic engagement, characteristically intertwining her journalism with op-ed takes (usually nonpartisan; depends who you ask). Grace enjoys reading philosophy, reading and discussing politics, gushing over her dog, and painting in her spare time. As a true economics enthusiast, she also loves graphs.
