According to Newsweek, Chalamet speaks three languages! His father is French (and Timothée was raised in the US) so he grew up speaking both English and French. He also learned a bit of Italian for his role in Call Me By Your Name.

2. He dated Madonna’s daughter.

While Chalamet tends to avoid talking about his personal life (good for him!) he has admitted that he dated Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon for a time. Chalamet met Leon when they both attended the La Guardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

3. He was a successful actor well before his buzzy roles in Lady Bird and Call Me By Your Name.

Although he is gaining attention for his scene stealing roles in two of the most talked about films of the year, Chalamet has been acting for a long time. In addition to appearing in some small films, Chalamet was in the 2014 film, Interstellar. He also starred in small screen hits such as Homeland and Royal Pains.

4. He’s a good person.

One of Chalamet’s upcoming projects is a Woody Allen film, entitled A Rainy Day In New York. Allen has been accused of sexual misconduct, leading some to question Chalamet’s decision to work with the director.

In response, Chalamet shared a post on Instagram that read, “I have been asked in a few recent interviews about my decision to work on a film with Woody Allen last summer. I’m not able to answer the question directly because of contractual obligations. But what I can say is this: I don’t want to profit from my work on the film, and to that end, I am going to donate my entire salary to three charities: TIME’S UP, The LGBT Center in New York, and RAINN. I want to be worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the brave artists who are fighting for all people to be treated with the respect and dignity that deserve.”

What a mature response from a fantastic person!

5. He loves Cardi B.

Cardi B has become an overnight sensation, and Timothée Chalamet counts himself as one of her many fans. He even thanked her in his acceptance speech after he won the Breakthrough Actor Award at last year’s Gotham Awards. Check out the speech below!

6. He’s from NYC.

If you are wondering where Chalamet’s oh-so-cool swagger comes from, it’s his NYC roots. He grew up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, and still calls the Big Apple home.

7. He went to Columbia for a little while.

While Chalamet is currently not a college student, he was enrolled at Columbia University for a short time. Speaking of his time there, Chalamet said, “Columbia takes a wholehearted academic commitment that I think I have in me but was just not where my mind was at the time.” Even without the diploma, it seems that things are going well for Timothée!

8. He has a secret rap past.

Knowing that Chalamet loves Cardi B, it’s not surprising that he has dabbled in rapping himself. He told Ellen DeGeneres that during high school he submitted a rap video for a school project, and only earned a D+. Check out the video below to see if you think he deserved a higher grade.

9. He’s the youngest Best Actor Nominee since 1944.

In case you need some motivation to achieve something significant before you graduate. Consider this: Timothée Chalamet has been nominated for an Oscar at age 22. He is the youngest Best Actor nominee since Mickey Rooney was nominated at age 19 in 1944.

10. He’s all too familiar with the struggle of having your name pronounced correctly.

As anyone with a slightly ~unique~ name knows, when new people encounter your name, it can be challenging to say the least. Please enjoy this video of Timothée and his Lady Bird co-star Saoirse Ronan discussing how their names have been mispronounced.
