The career fair—hosted by John Carroll University every Spring semester—drew in a big crowd this year. As juniors in the business school have been learning about what to wear and say to recruiters to impress them, many of the other majors here at John Carroll are not always taught the ins and outs of the recruitment process. Here are a few quick tips and tricks to get you through:
First, what you wear is important. Do not show up in jeans and a T-Shirt the recruiters will find it extremely unprofessional and will likely rate you lower. Yes, they rate you after they talk to you so they know whose resume to pull at the end of the night.
Make sure to have an updated resume at the ready when approaching a recruiter (it is an added bonus if it is printed on resume paper which the copy center can do for you!) Finally, remember to do your research and figure out which companies you want to visit and practice your elevator pitch. Remember to be yourself and find your dream job!
