10 Other Names Kylie Jenner Could Have Given Her Baby Girl

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

For months now, rumors and speculation have been whirling in regards to whether Kylie Jenner was pregnant or not, since the 20-year-old and her family never gave us an official confirmation. Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram users were relentlessly inspecting everything Kylie posted, trying to find a connection to her suspected pregnancy.

BUT, unless you don’t look at your phone, watch TV or leave the house, you are well aware that Kylie Jenner finally gave birth to her first child this week with boyfriend Travis Scott. The news of her daughter’s birth was announced Sunday, Feb. 4, and for two long days all of us sat on the edge of our seats waiting to see what name the two young celebrities chose for their baby girl. Finally, on Tuesday, February 6, her name was released…

…and it wasn’t a name that literally anyone would have guessed. While the name is definitely original, I’ve since been thinking about alternative names Kylie and Travis could have given their baby, and I’ve compiled the names and reasons into a list for all of you. Enjoy!

Mariposa, a.k.a. Posie: Ok, so this is the name that was circulating as a possibility before we knew Stormi’s name, but Mariposa holds a lot of meaning behind Kylie and Travis’ relationship. Mariposa means “butterfly” in Spanish, and Kylie and Travis are known to have matching butterfly tattoos. Fans also noticed in Kylie’s birth announcement video a still of Kylie pointing to a butterfly, which caused the original speculation that her daughter’s name would be related to a butterfly. Posie is also the name of one of Kylie’s infamous lip kits.

Kandy: I can’t be the only one out there who thought Kylie was going to be the one to continue the tradition of naming her kids “K” names, right? Candy K is another one of Kylie’s lip kits, and personally my favorite one I’ve bought so far. Candy is also sweet and reminds people of innocence and childhood, so Kylie could have used this as inspiration for her baby girl.

*Fun Fact: Apparently, Kylie’s nickname in high school was also Kandy!

Rose: When Kylie gave birth, Travis Scott sent her 443 roses to represent the time their daughter was born. Kylie’s family and friends also sent her hundreds of roses to commemorate the birth, so Kylie could have used the celebratory flowers as inspiration for her baby’s name. Though, we all know Kylie most likely spent all 9 months of her pregnancy coming up with the most unique name she could.

Carnation: While on the subject of flowers, Kylie’s sister, Khloe, sent a beautiful flower arrangement, as well, to celebrate the birth of baby Stormi. When Kylie posted a Snapchat, thanking Khloe for the flowers, fans quickly noticed something interesting: The arrangement was in the form of a ‘C.’ This led fans to believe that Kylie and Travis may have given their daughter a ‘C’ name. Most of the flowers in the arrangement are also a shade of pink and white, which led me to the name Carnation (yes, I know these are roses, but stick with me). Pink carnations are a symbol of a mother’s love and white carnations are a symbol of purity. Kylie could have used these floral arrangements as inspiration to use a flower-related name, and motherly love and purity are the most symbolic you can get when it comes to naming a baby, in my opinion.

Jenni: This name is simply an ode to Kylie’s family name “Jenner,” since Baby Stormi was given Travis Scott’s real surname, Webster. I also decided to stick with the ‘i’ theme, for obvious reasons.

Kristyn: Sticking with the theme of naming her daughter after herself, Kylie could have given her baby this name since Kylie’s middle name is Kristen. I spelled it this way simply because if Kylie chose such a simple name, she would want to spell it in a more unique way. Kylie ALSO has a lip kit named Kristen.

Cali: I chose this name as an ode to the State of California, where Kylie has grown up and happily lived her whole life. There’s really no other explanation than I just wanted to incorporate an L.A./California-themed name.

Kit: This is a funny, but reasonable suggestion. Kylie Jenner is best known for her lip kits, so what better than to name her baby after her most prized makeup collection? Kit also starts with a ‘K,’ so there’s that.

Silver: While researching names of butterflies, a friend of mine (Hi, Taylor!) found one species called Silvery Blue butterflies, and I decided Silver would have been a name Kylie could have given her baby. It’s unique, and the color silver has a number of symbolic meanings, including wealth, glamorous, and graceful, which could all be traits that Kylie would want her daughter to represent.

February: What better name for Kylie’s baby than the month she was born? February is a unique name and holds a lot of meaning, obviously, so Kylie could have given her baby February as a name to commentate the special month that her baby entered the world.

Ultimately, Kylie and Travis created their own original and unique name, and we are just happy that another Kardashian/Jenner has entered the world to give us more entertainment and drama to Keep Up with…ha. Congratulations Kylie and Travis, and welcome to the world Baby Stormi!
